Damsel Michonne Saved by Rick The Ruler!

Last night's episode of "The Ones Who Live" was FABULOUS!
It oozed so much Rick & Michonne goodness...
And that unmistakable SMIRK Michonne had on her face when she realized that it was Rick walking with her...
Yeah, she knew that some much needed STUFF & THANGS were about to transpire! πππ
But what I LOVED about this episode was that we got see a more relatable, less stoic Michonne.
In other words, we got to see her be a WOMAN! ππΎππΎππΎ
With *this* version of Michonne, we get to see her HUMANITY!
We get a fully fleshed out, fully developed character!
Not just a "strong Black woman" who keeps everyone in line!
Not just a warrior, unafraid, without any romantic connection to a man.
*This* Michonne not only gets the love of Rick, but we get to see her be demure. π«¦π«¦π«¦
We get to see her be a damsel in distress...
We see Rick save her! πππ
AND I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!
That "strong Black woman" trope is ridiculously harmful and detrimental to ALL BLACK WOMEN.
And there is absolutely NOTHING COMPLIMENTARY about being referred as such... π

It's nice that we get to see Michonne be desired, loved, protected, and cared for by Rick -- the white Alpha male who runs everything, is respected by everyone, and only has eyes for HER!
He is willing to RISK HIS LIFE to protect her at all costs! πππ
That's what we want to see!
And that's the kind of love that Black women DESERVE IN REAL LIFE! πππ
